Starward
Whisky done differently. Founder David Vitale grew up in a large, traditional Italian family, where food and informal get-togethers played a central role. Creating Starward was therefore a natural step: an approachable, versatile whisky without unnecessary fuss – crafted to be enjoyed every day, on every occasion.
Starward is crafted in Melbourne, Australia’s vibrant foodie capital, where flavour always comes first – not airs and graces. The city’s unique “four seasons in one day” climate enhances the whisky’s character: constant temperature changes draw out the full flavour from Australian red wine barrels. We call this elemental maturation. Thanks to aging in barrels from the Barossa and Yarra Valley, Starward offers a deliciously fruity taste with unmistakable wine cask richness.
Starward Left Field
Starward Left-Field is crafted to be approachable, versatile and unmistakably Starward. This single malt showcases the house style of maturing exclusively in Australian red wine barrels, sourced from the celebrated wine regions of Barossa and Yarra Valley.
For this expression, only 100% French oak is used, giving a richer and spicier mouthfeel while still allowing the delicate fruit and wine aromas to shine through.
Nose: Soft aromas of tropical fruit, red apple peel and fresh berries, lifted by warm vanilla spice.
Palate: Juicy tropical fruits with hints of roasted French oak, rich and full-bodied yet beautifully balanced.
Finish: Smooth, refined and delicately dry with lingering oak.
Starward Nova
Fully matured in casks that once held rich, full-bodied Australian red wines such as Shiraz, Cabernet and Pinot Noir, Starward Nova is a whisky with vibrant character and effortless drinkability. Whether neat or mixed, it’s made for more than just special occasions. Awarded World’s Best Craft Whisky 2016.
Nose: Bright red berries, orchard fruits and gentle oak spice.
Palate: Vanilla and ripe berries, beautifully balanced with caramel and warming spices.
Finish: Long, fruity and slightly tangy, with a touch of baked spice.
Starward 100 PROOF
Starward 100 Proof is a bold, full-bodied whisky that captures the essence of Australian craftsmanship. Bottled at 50% ABV and non-chill filtered, it delivers an intense and powerful flavour experience.
Matured exclusively in American oak red wine barrels from the world-renowned Barossa Valley, this whisky showcases rich layers of fruit, spice and oak.
Nose: Vanilla pods, toasted American oak, blackberry jam, sultanas, caramelised figs, cane sugar and ripe plums.
Palate: Deep and complex with vanilla, quince paste, nutmeg, raisins, chocolate ganache, cinnamon and baked banana bread.
Finish: Long, balanced and powerful with lingering spice, oak, figs and sultanas.
Starward Solera
Starward Solera was the very first whisky created by the distillery – and it remains a true icon. Crafted using the traditional solera method, every bottle contains a trace of Starward’s original whisky, making it a genuine piece of history.
Matured in Australian Apera (sherry-style) casks, Solera delivers a distinctly Australian take on tradition with its rich, layered flavours.
Nose: Bright tropical fruits, caramel and vanilla.
Palate: Toasted caramel, crème brûlée, banana, fig and sweet spices.
Finish: Juicy and full-bodied with lingering notes of dry spice.
