Informatie
Discover Serge Valentin’s tasting notes and expert review of the Chichibu 9yo 2015/2024 ‘7even Gods of Fortune Edition 5 Fukurokuju’—61% ABV, first-fill bourbon barrel, cask #4577, limited to 188 bottles.
You might need sunglasses to read the label properly (just kidding!). Color: Straw yellow. Nose: The flawless purity of a great Chichibu. Honestly, one could stop here—lemon, apple, clay, barley, fresh bread, and carrots—all in perfect balance. Basta cosi. With water: Becomes spicier, firmer, more chalky, almost closing like an oyster. Palate (neat): I simply love it. Full-bodied yet lively, soft yet spicy, with excellent citrus notes, followed by barley that holds everything together. With water: Sublime, with a touch of honey emerging, adding warmth and sweetness—something we could all use, right? Finish: Long, balanced between barley and honey, with citrus notes lingering. Comment: At 9 years old, it doesn’t get any better. A Chichibu like Mozart. I know one shouldn’t give a whisky of this age more than 90 points—but here it is. SGP: 561 – 91 points.
