In April 2024, Salud received a message that Chichibu had discovered an unusual loss of whisky from cask #4569 during maturation—far beyond the usual “angels’ share.” Never before in Chichibu’s history had a cask leaked so much that only an extraordinary 75 bottles could be produced!
We all know the term “angels’ share,” the legendary idea that the more whisky evaporates, the better its quality. Initially, this edition was intended to be released under the 7GOF series, but the tiny yield was not enough for an official release.
Instead, we decided to bottle the remaining whisky as “Angels Favorite” under our own Spirits of Salud label. So, if we now call our tasters “angels,” the name fits perfectly. It’s painfully ironic that this very cask, their favorite, was the one that started leaking—but fortunately, some of this golden liquid was preserved and is now ready to be enjoyed.
Thanks to this unexpected turn of events, whisky lovers in the Netherlands and Austria will soon be able to experience this extremely rare Chichibu.
If you look closely at the label, you’ll see an angel holding the cask with one hand, trying to protect the whisky from evaporation or leaks. You might say she was just a little too late… or perhaps just in time?
The label design was created using AI technology by WARBB Studios, the same creative team behind the 7GOF series.
